The Marble House

There has always been at least one “you know that house” on the island – discussed at cocktail parties and pointed out to visitors.  When I was young, it was Ed McMahon’s house on 18th Street.  Then there was the elegant home at 40th and First Avenue (now being re-built).  And of course, the modest homes in the high dunes were replaced with mini-mansions over the years.

In 1999, the “Marble House” became the most talked about home in town.  It was for sale a few years back- without success.  It’s on the market again for $7,500,000.
