What Did You Say?

Translating the local dialect:

gullypointIf you hear someone say “I am going to the Court House”, no need to worry about any legal drama.  What they mean is “Cape May Court House”.  This statement is interchangeable with “I’m going off shore”.

“Go play in the gully”.  We don’t call them tide pools.

“Jimmies”, never sprinkles (well, maybe if referring to the rainbow version…but who really orders those??)

Ocean Drive = Avalon; Third Avenue = Stone Harbor.  Likewise, Dune Drive = Avalon; Second Avenue = Stone Harbor.

The other day, I heard a tenant directing her children to the “Five and Dime” across the street. I told her she is dating herself  😉
