  • The Marble House

There has always been at least one “you know that house” on the island - discussed at cocktail parties and pointed out to visitors.  When I was young, it was Ed McMahon’s house on 18th Street.  Then there was the elegant home at 40th and First Avenue (now being re-built).  And of course, the modest homes in the high dunes were replaced with mini-mansions over the years.

In 1999, the “Marble House” became the most talked about home in town.  It was for sale a few years back- without success.  It’s on the market again for $7,500,000.

  • Saturday Sights

Warm sunshine and a rainbow in the clouds to greet me for my morning walk.

Yesterday’s storm left many “treasures” along the beach- sea glass, conch shells, and a plastic deck chair??

    Enjoy the weekend!

  • Nice View!

Pictures from my walk along the beach yesterday.

Moderating temperatures and a bit more daylight after work hours provide motivation to get outside and enjoy the scenic views 🙂

  • More Snow

The preferred and more typical sea shore snow storm.

Our public works department cleared the roads early this morning, and the sun is handling the mid-day melt.

Beautiful on the beach this morning.  Shades of white, gray, and black- in contrast with the colors in the sky.  More pictures posted on Twitter: http://twitter.com/AnnDelaneyBeach

  • Sunday at the Shore

Yes, the temperatures dropped, and winds are still gusting over 30 mph, but the bright sunshine was the deciding factor for a walk on the beach before work.

Bundled up, walking close to the dunes (to block the NW wind), and turning my face toward the sun…it wasn’t that bad  😉

  • Weekend Activities

I did not wear gloves to work today…an act of solidarity for those participating in the Polar Bear Plunge in Sea Isle City ;)   Brrrrrr!

As mentioned on Twitter, Fred’s Tavern in Stone Harbor is promoting a “Last Call” weekend prior to closing for renovations.  The new and improved facility will re-open in early spring- serving both FOOD and drink.  The package goods store will remain open during the project.

Hold on to your hats as you walk along the beach!  Enjoy the weekend.

  • Spring Weather

If you are coming to the beach for President’s weekend, bring several layers.

The sun is out and temperatures are heading in the right direction…but there is a definite “sea breeze”.  The closer you are to the ocean, the more layers you will need!

Worth bundling up for the view.  See you on the beach  😉
