    Chilly morning, yet the calm ocean and warm sun inspired a long walk.  Full moon tonight- looking forward to dinner (Wawa sandwiches) in the Jeep, and on the beach 🙂

  • Boat Show in Atlantic City

    boatWinter survival tip:  think about summer days on the water!

    Attending the Atlantic City Boat Show might help, too.  February 6th through the 10th (indoors at the convention center).

    A quick overview provided by the PR representative, Samantha Treacy:

    “It’s a great stop for boating enthusiasts and families looking for an affordable and fun day. Visitors can climb aboard and compare hundreds of boats for all budgets and lifestyles and shop deals on the latest marine gadgets and gear. There will also be a variety of attractions for all ages, including the new Swapmaster Gator Show, the chance to meet Captain Dave Marciano from National Geographic Channel’s Wicked Tuna, a Kid’s Boating mini lake and a Patrick the Star meet and greet.”   For additional detail, visit the Atlantic City Boat Show website.

  • Another Island

    Day trip to New York City yesterday.  Sensory over load compared to my normal day to day life (this time of year, the roar of the ocean sounds loud to me!)

    We had breakfast at The Plaza Hotel, walked a bit through Central Park, and then down along Fifth Avenue.  Our stop at Rockefeller Plaza included the observation deck of Top of the Rock- amazing views!  Then on to Times Square and the  main purpose of our visit: the show Wicked (so clever and entertaining- loved it!)TopofRock

  • Dashing Through The Sand

    The Lozier family expressed gratitude for the community’s support of the scholarship fund established 5 years ago in memory of their son: race participants, generous sponsors, and volunteers.

    And, the rain held off until after the race!

     

  • And, a few are missing!

    In our family, once you host a holiday event…it’s your job FOREVER.

    Thankfully, I’m not a good cook (or, could that be my ploy to avoid the work??)

    A big thank you to my sisters brave enough to feed our every growing group (table for 19 last night!)

  • Reminder- Dashing Thru the Sand

    Will you be in the Avalon area on Saturday, December 29th?

    If so, burn off a few Christmas cookies by participating in the annual Dashing Thru the Sand 5K race/walk.

    Registration opens at 8am inside the Avalon Community Hall located at 30th and Avalon Avenue; race time 9am.  $20 registration fee.

    Proceeds benefit The Craig Kenneth Lozier Memorial Scholarship fund.

  • Beach Walking

    The view is always changing…and I often see something especially unique.

    Yesterday on a beach path, I saw a pine tree decorated with a few Christmas balls, as well as orphaned beach items- flip flops and shovels.  Last week, I walked by a fort built from “Sandy” debris- very creative!  And of course, there is the bonus of finding beautiful sea glass 🙂

  • Festive Friday

    A long list of family friendly activities and events in Avalon today (11am to 4pm).  Stop by the Power Play Realty office – we are giving away our logo drawstring backpacks.

    At 5pm, join your shore neighbors for the annual Christmas tree lighting at the circle (Veteran’s Plaza)- with live music starting at 4pm.

    Later in Stone Harbor, it’s hospitality night along 96th Street.

    Perfect weather for a day/night of shopping local, too. Your business is appreciated!

     

  • Beach Terrain

    Back to my normal shoreline walks after 10 days of more challenging terrain! 

    Guess I shouldn’t whine about the soft sand 😉

    Chilly morning- so I walked near the dunes to block the wind.  And, wore a hat.  Not quite ready to transition to the next season.
