Even if a friend walked through (or I drove by) and said your house is fine, please make an effort to come down and thoroughly inspect.
It’s easy to miss something on a quick walk through. For example, I didn’t notice a minor leak by one of our windows until the second day we were home. Â
The towns are allowing owners to rake the marsh grass to the curb.  Borough trucks are driving around to pick up and dispose of the debris.
If you had any flooding around your house, be sure to check the crawl space. If the insulation got wet, it MUST be removed and thrown away. Insulation will not dry- in fact it will hold the moisture and cause mold on the floor boards over time.
If you need recommendations for contractors, etc. to help with the clean up, please let me know 609-967-7950

Hi Ann, I am friends with the Markel family. We meet them last winter in Costa Rica and felt an immediate connection. I am so grateful for your blog for it is the only information I have gotten on your area. I send my prayers to you all for a speedy clean up and recovery. I live in East Hampton Ny and we where very fortunate , we are all one though and I feel deeply for any losses that incurred. If you know the Markel”s and you happen to run into them please give them a hug from The Minardi’s. Thanks again for your coverage. Welldone!
Thanks! Glad the info helped. Will share your comments with the Markel family.
