  • Surf Fishing

This was brought to my attention by a local property owner who likes to fish:  https://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/register/anglerForm.jsp
Registration is required (no fee for now) for salt water fishing in New Jersey (as well as other states).

Will the average vacationer casting off the jetty or shore line know about this?

  • A Seashore Easter

bridgeAprilThe fog lifted just in time for a beautiful Sunday morning.

Church bells echoed off of the calm bay.  Very peaceful…

Mid-tide allowed me to take a “short cut” on my kayak to a nearby basin.  Shhh, don’t tell   😉

  • Be Careful!

crosswalkClarification of New Jersey law regarding pedestrian crossings:

The driver of a vehicle must stop and stay stopped for a pedestrian crossing the roadway within a marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.

  • Kayaking Tour

MSHad company for kayaking today.  My nephew and I were a bit chilly, so thankfully we both stayed dry!

Great weather (although the sea breeze is keeping temperatures cool) and the island is busy.  Should be a perfect spring weekend.  Enjoy!

  • No Fooling!

AprilHappy April.  The sun is out and temperatures are rising!

A picture perfect day for a walk on the beach 🙂

  • Kayaking 2 Beach?

37thbeachpathNew business opportunity- kayak rentals at beach path entrances.

This is the 37th Street beach path in Avalon.  Crews with pumps were working on the 38th and 39th Street paths.  Saw Borough employees at the 44th Street beach path the other day.

An incredible amount of water with no where to go!

  • High Tide

hightideThe rain is STILL coming down, and some minor tidal flooding along the back bay.  All of this will be quickly forgotten if the warm weather arrives as predicted.

Noticed yesterday that the center islands and dunes have suddenly turned GREEN.  A positive side effect of the wet winter!

Also noticed lights on and workers inside various businesses around town in preparation of Easter weekend.  Will continue to post the season openings on Twitter:  http://twitter.com/AnnDelaneyBeach

  • Rainy Monday 🙁

flowersThe spring flowers will either thrive or drown after all of this rain!

The good news?  A huge improvement of our weather is expected just in time for the holiday weekend.   Temperatures may even reach 70 by the end of the week!

  • Bridges to Cross

NWbridgeSunday is the 12th annual Ocean Drive Marathon.  The race starts at 9am in Cape May, and 8 bridges later, ends in Sea Isle City.  Whew!

The inlet next to the final bridge may even provide free showers for the participants  😉

Update: A sunny Sunday morning with winds from the ESE 18- 22 mph.  This will give the runners a bit of a push in some sections.  Overall, a decent day (considering it’s March!) for the race.
