For those of you who live near regular public transportation, this may not be a big deal. But, we are excited about the new direct train service between Atlantic City and New York City.Â

ACES, the Direct Express Train service between New York City and Atlantic City is scheduled to start on February 6. Special introductory one-way ticket prices are set at $50 for coach seats and $75 for first class. The weekend-only trips to Atlantic City transit will take about 2½ hours and will travel directly from New York City’s Penn Station to Atlantic City. Â
The NYC to AC trains will make the 143-mile run Friday, Saturday and Sunday with two trains on Friday, three on Saturday and four on Sunday. The newly remodeled cars will carry as many as 300 passengers per four-car train.
Tickets for the new Atlantic City Train Service will go on sale January 15. Passengers will be able to make reservations and get additional information at www.acestrain.com.
  
 The beach side promenade between 80th and 83rd Streets (major renovations underway at the Windrift, by the way- the 2 inside bar areas from what I could see).
 I am a big fan of Girl Scout Cookies- the peanut butter sandwiches are my favorite. But wait…peanut butter is now a risky food product. The Girl Scouts try to stay current with the times- their cookies are trans-fat free, the packaging is 100% recycled paperboard; and this year the girls have to assure us that the cookies are salmonella free! 
 Yesterday’s bright sun created a line through my picture- but it was such a nice view that I wanted to post it anyway. A spring like day…replaced with more normal winter weather today. Oh well- we know better days are ahead 🙂
 Sure, the sun is out…but with typical January temperatures and wind chills. Brrrr! The surfers don’t seem to mind the cold!

 January 20, 1961– the Inauguration of John F. Kennedy. My mother watched this historic event with me - in the maternity ward of the hospital.  I was 2 days old. Our 44th president would be born later that same year.
 Interesting to see the various footprints in the snow and try to guess the critter.
 The most unusual? Human footprints. There were a few more than expected this morning, but it is a 3 day weekend! 
 It was cold and damp! But still a pretty view.
 Salt water ice on the outfall pipes.  Signs of the more dreaded “frozen pipes” were in front of a nearby beach block house – the police and public works department were already on site to shut off the water to prevent further damage.
 At 7:40 am, the temperature inside my house was a frugal 63.5 degrees; outside was a painful 10.2 degrees.
