  • Plans for Summer?

Although we are experiencing a strong rental season, there are plenty of homes/condos still available for rent this summer.  I am happy to e-mail you (or a friend) a detailed list of suitable properties: ann@anndelaney.com

Thanks for the opportunity to help!

  • The Positive Spin

Random thoughts from my morning walk:

Angry ocean…..Mother Nature speaking her mind (the roar heard from blocks away!)

High tide…..walking in soft sand is great exercise.

Heavy Fog…..quality moisture for dry winter skin.

I am grateful to live in such a unique environment 🙂

  • Stone Harbor- Public Library

Cape May County will be building a new public library on the north side of the 95th Street parking area along the beach (the library currently uses space in the municipal building on Second Avenue).

Not certain of a start/completion date.

parkinglot95th.jpg   Structure will be built adjacent to the beach between 94th and 95th Streets (over a portion of the existing parking lot).  The beach patrol building and Woman’s Civic Club buildings are located beach side between 95th and 96th Streets.

  • Gray to Blue!

Last week, as I drove over the 96th Street bridge, I noticed the back bay was a deep shade of blue.

This morning, the ocean was a beautiful blue color, too.

Winters at the shore are typically monochromatic: gray skies, gray waterways, and gray sand along the beach.  The arrival of color is a true sign of spring!

  • How Many People in the Winter?

Interesting facts:  There are 2,125 full time residents in Avalon.  Sea Isle City has 2,949.  Stone Harbor (the smallest geographically) has 1,039.

  • 9000 Feet Above The Sea

Another quick trip to Colorado this week to see the grand baby (and visit his older sister and parents, too!)  The altitude continues to be an issue for me- I try a new remedy on each trip, but haven’t found the solution yet.  Frustrating…

However, a smiling baby makes it worthwhile.

The residents in their small town get so excited as they plan their schedules around skiing or snowboarding.  I can relate.  We are very serious about our beach days here, too!

  • Signs of Spring?

The bulbs in our yard are breaking through (although surrounded by an inch of snow yesterday!); Marabella’s Restaurant in Stone Harbor is open on weekends -with more businesses expected to be open by Easter; morning fog; Borough employees working on the beach entrances; and interested buyers making serious offers on seashore homes!

Warmer temperatures are bound to be on the way…  🙂

  • President’s Weekend at the Shore

    sneakers.jpg

Take a break from the snow/ice! Come to the shore and put your feet in the sand (at least your sneakers!)

Many restaurants and stores will be open for the long weekend.  See you around town…

  • Avalon-Weekend Trash Solution

The Borough of Avalon has announced a solution to wayward trash cans after weekend visits: The 15th Street Borough yard will be open to accept household trash and recycle items on Sundays between 12 noon and 5pm- now through May 18th.  The Borough will continue this program in the fall on Sundays between September 14th and December 28th.  Great idea!
