  • Thursday Warm Up

Very cold on the beach this morning – although the dolphins didn’t seem to mind!  More seasonal temperatures promised for later today…and the weekend.

  • Seagulls

seagullsSomeday, I should take a beach walk with the author of the Beach Chair Scientist blog.  I’m sure she could help me name the different species of seagulls.

In the off season, I see more variety.  For example: the huge “winter gulls”, and appearing recently, the majestic gulls with bright black and white coloring.

These temporary residents are definitely more skittish of humans.  The typical Jersey shore seagull will look you straight in the eye, and almost dare you to step over them.  Oh, and then steal your sandwich 😉

Early morning beach walk, with the dunes partially blocking the chilly west wind…and the sun warming my face.  Great way to start the day!

  • Easter Views

Beautiful early morning view from the 88th Street pavilion (Easter sunrise service).

Great to see property owners in town, and so many businesses back open!

    It’s only April, fools 😉

At work, and ready to help with YOUR beach plans!  Happy April 1st!

  • Easter Service

88thStreetThe prettiest church on the island (for the view!)

An Easter Sunrise Service will take place at the 88th Street beach pavilion tomorrow morning at 6:30am.

The churches of Avalon and Stone Harbor participate in this multi-denomination service.

  • Good, Better, Best!

Quick narrative of my morning walk:

“Ahh, warm sun.  That feels nice.  Oh, and look…2 pieces of sea glass.  Low tide and calm wind- such a beautiful morning on the beach.  Wow…three herons just flew overhead -another version of “snow birds” returning north! ”

And then, just before I turned up my beach path: “Dolphins!!” Jumping out of the water as they passed by.  The ocean was so calm- they were easy to spot.  Now THAT’S the way to start a work day 🙂

WeatherVaneA quick walk to a rental property near my office (to update interior photos).

Walking allows me to really SEE a neighborhood, and notice details on the homes.

Spotted this weather vane today- looked nice against the back drop of a bright blue sky and puffy white clouds…

  • March Weather

PlantEven my Christmas cactus is confused!

Unfortunately, March is famous for unsettled weather (especially here at the shore).  Last year at this time, I was paddling my kayak out on the bay!  Hoping for a warm up soon…

So far, our “snow event” is mostly rain, with a few renegade snow flurries passing by my office window.

The forecast looks MUCH better for the Easter weekend 🙂
