Oh, and purple, pink, orange, yellow, and gray!
Beautiful morning at the beach 😎
Oh, and purple, pink, orange, yellow, and gray!
Beautiful morning at the beach 😎
Last week was Halloween, and Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away.
In Avalon and Stone Harbor, we hurry through our Thursday dinner so that we can prepare for the next day: Â Christmas!
Starting Friday November 23rd and throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, our island celebrates the start of the holiday season with hospitality night, Christmas tree lighting, family festivals/ events, and a parade.
Hope to see you around town!
We typically walk along the beach, and then to the fire house to vote before our work day 😎🇺🇸
Saturday morning’s nor’easter caused more tidal flooding than we initially expected.
The ocean roared, but thankfully remained behind the well established dunes!
Bay water over flowed from several basins, causing street and yard flooding in the typical low sections of Avalon and Stone Harbor.
Businesses owners in downtown Avalon and Stone Harbor waited patiently for low tide and customer access!

Barbados was beautiful- and warm!
Yet, I was happy to bundle up and walk our beach again this morning before work.
When I mention my vacation plans to customers, they often question why  I’m “leaving the beach to go on vacation?”
Our fall trip is typically arranged by April. With our hectic summer schedules, it’s nice to look forward to an off season break.
We are privileged to live by the ocean year round, and I am grateful for the ever changing views. Â Yet as I know from coordinating summer vacations for our visitors, a week away is good for the soul!
In 2 weeks, my beach views will be a bit different.  I’ll post a few pictures on Twitter  😎
Unfortunately, the annual Nuns’ Beach Surf Contest on September 15th was cancelled due to unsafe water conditions (rip currents).
The “store” at 111th and Second Avenue, Stone Harbor remains open on weekends, and the popular “Nuns’ Beach” wear can also be purchased at Pete Smith’s Surf Shop on 96th Street.
We are proud to support the kind Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and their beautiful Stone Harbor landmark.
Perfect “fall” weather for the Savor September Festival on 96th Street today. Â 12 noon to 9pm.
