  • Parking Problems

During peak summer holidays, finding a parking spot on the island can be a challenge!

Unfortunately, tenants and owners who park on their yard beyond the designated driveway may be in for an unpleasant outcome.

Just because a home has a stone yard, it doesn’t mean it’s suitable for additional parking. Water and sewer lines run from the curb to the house just under the surface of the yard. The weight of a vehicle can damage these pipes, creating an expensive plumbing repair.

I noticed this truck on a yard over the weekend. Even when the street emptied out, the truck remained on the front yard!

  • Islandman Triathlon

    Request from Midge Kerr:

We have quite a openings for volunteers on our bike course for the upcoming charity event, Islandman and Islandkids Triathlons in just two weeks on June 29th.

We need to keep the cyclist safe while they are riding their bikes and limit vehicle and pedestrian crossing in front of them until there is a gap and it is safe to allow them to cross.

Time commitment is from 7:15- 9:45am and your are assigned a street somewhere along Avalon Avenue and First Avenue. Volunteers get a tee shirt to wear during the event and custom Defeet event socks.

Bike Course Marshals can check in and get their race gear Friday from 5-7pm, inside Community Hall, 3001 Avalon Avenue. This way, race day Saturday, volunteers could go directly to their assigned streets and avoid all the athletes checking in at the hall. If that is not an option, volunteers can still come race day from 5:30-7am and check in at the volunteer table inside the hall.

Bike course coverage is critical to the safety and success of our event in our community. Marshals must be at least 18 years of age. There are specific streets that are open and listed on the sign up page. If you live near one of the open streets on the race course and would like to be assigned that street, please email midge@timkerrcharities.org your request.

    Thank you!
  • Walks Around the Island

Even though I live on the island, sell local real estate for a living, AND walk the blocks almost every day…it’s not unusual for me to say “What was there before?” when passing a newly cleared lot!

Thank goodness for Google Maps to help me visualize the “before” version of a particular spot.

  • Sunday morning views…

    Picture perfect weather all weekend!

As an island native, I have a “lifetime of experience” on Seven Mile Beach. And I appreciate the opportunity to help with all aspects of your seashore real estate needs.

  • Happy Mother’s Day!

Grateful to be a mom, mother in law, and Nan!

  • Full circle!

When my sisters and I were young, it felt like it took FOREVER for our dad to drive us somewhere.

He would slowly cruise along Dune or Ocean Drive, turning his head to look down each street.

If he noticed we were passing one of the job sites (he was in the carpet and tile business), he would stop and check in with the builder or installer.

This morning, I laughed at the realization that I likewise, look down every street as I drive to work!

And at this time of year, I am so happy to see “my” owners down enjoying their shore homes 😎

  • 2024 Rental Season

Similar to last spring, our rental activity has been disappointingly slow.

    There are several factors:

    1. We have returned to pre-Covid demand, with prime weeks coinciding with the school calendar. Late June to mid-August are once again the standard rental weeks. Weeks books beyond that time frame are considered bonus rentals for owners.
    2. Families often have difficulty coordinating everyone’s schedule. Therefore, last minute bookings have become more common.
    3. When potential tenants are searching online, they see a variety of options still available. That lowers their sense of urgency. Procrastinators are no longer at risk when planning a beach vacation!

We expect an increase of rental inquiries in the coming month.

In the meantime, we are spreading the word via social media and other online advertising to encourage vacationers to commit.
