Mixed Emotions

With every walk, I feel mixed emotions.  Obviously, I’m so grateful to be able to walk around the island again; as well as get back to work and a normal routine.

Yet, I also see the destruction left from the storm.  It’s minor compared with other shore communities north of us- but still sad to see.

Property and business owners are working through the clean up and rebuilding process.  Bay front owners are arranging repairs to their docks and bulkheads (and searching for wayward floating docks/boats).  The public works crews continue to clean up debris and make necessary repairs to walkways, etc.

The lower picture is of the “Hobie Cat” beach south of the 123rd Street parking lot in Stone Harbor.  The broken wooden posts at the water’s edge (high tide) are the sail boat slip markers that previously stood just 15′ or so from the dune.
