    The Nuns’ Beach “store” is open (111th and Second Avenue), and the Sisters are on hand to talk about their plans for the historic property.

    I understand the practical aspect of their decision, yet I am also heartbroken about the change.

    I posted this in August of 2017.  And sadly, the words have been repeated many times over the past 2 years.

     

    It’s hard for me to fathom the level of hate on display in Charlottesville.

    My sheltered life on this island is one of the reasons I value the opportunity to travel.

    Meeting people around the world verifies that we are all more alike than different.

    Kindness transcends languages…and I am grateful for those experiences.

  • Mid-Summer Suggestions

    We are now 6 to 8 weekly tenants into the summer rental season (depending on the owner start date) and the properties are beginning to feel their “age”.

    Extra attention is likely needed on the ceiling fans,  air-conditioning return vents, and outdoor living spaces.  The weeds in the landscaping and/or stones may be taking over the yard.  There might be multiple empty containers of shampoo and pieces of used soap in the outside shower. The drip pan under the grill probably needs to be emptied.

    It’s always worthwhile for owners to be on hand for the occasional change -over for these reasons.

    If you need assistance with extra projects , I am happy to make recommendations.

  • There’s room at the shore…

    Our agency has vacancies in several of the vacation rental homes we represent.

    And last night I noticed a few “vacancy” signs downtown (surprising for a Saturday night in prime time).

    I wonder if last minute vacationers think it’s too late to book?

    We welcome the procrastinators!

  • Rentals in Avalon, Stone Harbor NJ

    For some reason, the rental activity has slowed down considerably.  Agents in other offices report the same issue.
