BIG night ahead in Stone Harbor…even the 96th Street bridge into town will be closed (7pm to 10pm).
Bay front property owners are decorating their homes, docks, and boats; as well as hosting friends and neighbors. Â Fun to kayak around this morning to see the preparations!

Another beautiful bay AND beach day yesterday.
The tide was just right in the morning to allow access under the 104th Street bridge – that sign doesn’t apply to kayaks 😉  It’s a bit tricky with pilings and pipes…but the 12 year old in me likes to give it a try!
And then a picture perfect afternoon on the beach. Â Life is good…

Saturday 8/2- the annual Surf Memorial, 30th Street beach. Â 6:30am to 5pm
As seen on my Thursday morning walk:
1) The regular morning beach walkers. Â Saw the “avoid eye contact at all costs” man this morning. I’ll eventually break him in, and get him to acknowledge my “Good Morning” 😉
2) The lovely sisters from Villa Maria, walking with their rosaries.
3) Surfers and dolphins.
4) AND, a man in a Speedo doing yoga…(sorry, no picture needed)
This time of year, I’m usually out on my kayak several times a week. Â Unfortunately, I’m getting a late start this summer.
Today, the conditions were just right: Â early morning high tide and calm winds. Â Wind is a big factor- prefer not enough to produce white caps on the bay, but a light breeze to help me paddle faster than the gnats!
Peaceful way to start my day 🙂
I am proud to support The Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund: a grass roots organization helping Cape May County pediatric cancer patients and their families since 1992.

On July 29th, the Annual Artist and Friends Art Show at the Avalon Yacht Club- 6pm- 9pm.
Our annual visit to Morey’s water park and pier yesterday.
I’m always impressed with the overall maintenance (cleanliness), and improvements by the Morey Organization. Â A worthwhile day trip from Avalon or Stone Harbor.
Random thought this morning as I walked the beach: Â Do I crave vacations/travel more than most because of my environment?
Living and working in a resort area has many benefits (see picture below)… yet I’ll admit to some jealousy as I watch people crossing Dune Drive, carrying their beach chairs, as I drive to work!
And, then there is Twitter. A virtual suitcase…providing amazing opportunities to see the world through fellow travelers’ posts and pictures.  Twitter has also become a valuable resource for travel connections. It’s the human side of our computer focused lives.
So as I help vacationers this summer with their rentals, I will also finalize my travel folder for our fall trip 🙂
It’s that time of year again- The Islandman Triathlon (a Tim Kerr Charities event).
Race Director Midge Kerr, needs volunteers for the bike course portion of the race. Â This is a closed course event for the safety of the participants (when you see how fast the riders pass, you will understand!)
Saturday, June 28th between 7:15am and 9:45am. Coverage requested for each block on Avalon and First Avenues along the course. Volunteers will receive FREE logo shirts.
