  • Sunday Sights

carsThe street adjacent to the Villa Maria Retreat House in Stone Harbor- the only beach block street on the island lined with economy cars.  Most have sun shades in the windshields and Immaculata University bumper stickers, too  😉

  • Last Day of July

JulyMorningMy view as I crossed over the beach path early this morning for a walk before work.

July has been HOT- even for us at the shore.  Hopefully August will provide the preferred sea breeze and cool nights.

Today and next Saturday are our biggest check in weekends of the summer.  The island is very busy!

  • Missing TV channels?

The change in digital service took effect last night for Comcast customers in the Avalon/ Stone Harbor area.  For television sets WITHOUT a box, the reception is limited to the first 28 channels.

Property owners can pick up boxes at the local cable office at 33rd and Dune Drive, or visit the Comcast web site for more information: http://digitalnow.comcast.com/

  • Sand Memorials

sandmemorialI find it very touching when I come across sand memorials on my early morning beach walks.

Love poems, sad stories, and dedications etched on the sand. Temporary, yet very meaningful to the author.

  • Clearing Sky

clearingskyRain showers this morning to cool us off a bit- now clear skies all around.

Big rental change over day on the island…cars and vans loaded up with kids and bicycles!

    Have a great weekend.

  • Nana Visit

The “Colorado” Delaney’s just moved from the Rocky Mountains to the lower elevation mountains of western North Carolina.  The good news is that altitude sickness can be banished from my vocabulary.  The bad news?  It takes just as long to fly to this destination as it did to fly to Denver.   I have a feeling the trip includes a banner plane for the last leg to the regional airport 😉

A quick trip- but Nana needs her fix!

  • Mixed Weather

skyThe morning sky was a mix of storm clouds and bright sunshine.  This was the view from my kayak in the back bay looking toward the beach side of the island (just before 7am).

The late morning rain chased everyone off the beach and into the downtown shops.

Sun returned this afternoon…along with cooler temperatures.  Should be a nice evening at the shore!  Enjoy the weekend.
