A real “wow” sight as I walked over the dune path this morning! Â A layer of ice and slush coating the ocean. Â Click HERE to watch the video on YouTube.

Amazing sights yesterday of the snow and ice surrounding the island.
The highlights: seeing the ice in the waves off of the 8th Street jetty, the huge chunks of ice along the ocean’s edge, and the fresh snow on the beach paths.
A mild 27 degrees right now, with bright, warm sunshine 🙂
Beautiful day in Avalon, NJ.  A “just enough” snow storm, AND temperatures edging  above 20 degrees (without the crazy wind).
Interesting to compare the views of the 80th Street beach (cold, but it looks like a warm summer day) to the bay at 26th Street (a frozen tundra). Â Both of these picture were taken today.
Credit to Twitter friends @RinnMike and @rosemarydery for the clever modification of Avalon’s trademark sign 😉
Not to worry- the original slogan and sign remain intact!
Our beach vehicle permit provides a nice option to catch the sunrise in the comfort of a heated Jeep 🙂
Yet, I am out walking along the sand on most days.
It was crazy windy this morning- will be cold for even the spectators at the annual Polar Bear Plunge in Sea Isle City!

Sunday- mild weather for a late afternoon walk after work. Â The salt air smell was amazing, and ice chunks rolled in the waves.
