  • Stormy Skies

    A benefit of our unsettled evening weather- picturesque skies (photo taken last night during a beach walk).

    A bit cooler today, and a nice breeze.  Enjoy the weekend!

  • Early Views

    I walked earlier than usual this morning, and was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise.

    Every few blocks, I passed someone at the water’s edge with a camera (or cell phone) capturing the bright pink sky reflecting off the ocean. I’m not the only early riser on the island!

    The beach grooming tractors were starting their first row at the high tide line.  And, the Borough workers emptying  trash cans at the beach paths had a loyal flock of seagulls following behind hoping for scraps.

    Such a nice way to start the day…

  • Back to Work

    Yesterday was the last day of vacation for visiting family.  The early rain was a concern. Thankfully, the sun appeared in time for a quick walk along the beach (and the obligatory photo on the lifeguard stand).

    The radar looked promising enough to continue with our plans for the water park and Wildwood boardwalk.  A few sprinkles while we took a lunch break, but otherwise, a decent day. 

    Morey’s does such a great job with their water parks/piers.  Everything is clean and well organized.  All of the “kids”  had a blast.  Some of us are feeling our age today, though…  😉

  • Beach Time

    Happy kids = happy parents and grandparents 🙂

  • Family Time

    I know we are so fortunate to live and work at the shore year round.  Yet, when family members are visiting, it can be a challenge to juggle the demands of peak season business with the fun activities.

    Yesterday, I was able to leave the office by 4pm and catch up with everyone on the beach (just in time for a nice sea breeze!)

    On the agenda later this week: bay and ocean kayaking, Morey’s water park, and the Wildwood boardwalk.  If I look a bit weary at the office…you will understand 🙂

  • Summer Weekend

    A bit overcast this morning for our busy change-over day.  How can you tell it’s a rental change over day?  Every other car has bikes attached to the back and a kayak on top 😉

  • Villa Maria- Nuns’ Beach

    The stately Villa Maria by the Sea retreat house celebrates its Diamond Jubilee Year in 2012.

    As a special thank you to the community, the Sisters are opening their summer home to the public on Saturday July 21st from 11am to 1pm, and again on Wednesday, August 22nd.

    Tour the huge beach front building and manicured grounds, and catch up with the wonderful women in residence.

    Oh, and don’t go with empty pockets.  You will be “encouraged” to purchase Nuns’ Beach wear, or make a kind donation 😉

  • Solitude in July

    A major perk of our low key island: even in July, you can still find quiet sections along the water.   This was my view yesterday…a great back drop while reading a book.

  • Aren’t They Baby Clams??
