  • January Beach Days

    My late Sunday afternoon beach walk views.

    It looked like a summer day…well, except for the lack of people, and the Jeep on the sand!

  • Art at Stone Harbor Point

    In the late fall, unknown artists created a unique beach sculpture at Stone Harbor Point.  It was likely a group effort with contributions of painted shells and other beach treasures.

    Storms over the holidays destroyed their work, but as of a few days ago, repairs are underway!

  • Keeping Warm on Walks

    We are very fortunate to enjoy 6 months of really nice weather.  The other 6 months are occasionally challenging for my regular beach walks.

    Even if temperatures are not terrible, the wind will let you know it’s winter!

    Some days, I choose to “get it over with” and walk into the wind…knowing the perks once I turn around.

    Or, like this morning, I count on the dunes to provide some wind break!

  • 2020 Beach Tags

    One of our favorite annual gifts from my mother- Christmas beach tags.  Will attach them to my beach bag soon!

    This year’s design is sentimental for our family:  Villa Maria by the Sea in Stone Harbor.

    My mother’s sister was an IHM. “Aunt Kathryn” spent numerous summers in the retreat house.  As children, we had the opportunity to hang out with the wonderful Sisters in Villa Maria and at the beach. Certainly a unique perspective of religious life!

    2020 will be a year of big changes for the Sisters and their retreat house.  I am sad to lose the stately landmark in our community (as well as the memories associated with the property), yet I understand their need to make practical decisions for the order.
