  • Summer Rentals- cleaning issues

An observation as we wrap up our busy rental season: cleaning arrangements should be expanded to include exterior areas.

With so many larger homes now in our inventory, the gap with cleaning was especially evident this summer.

The change over cleaners typically handle only the interior of the house.  That leaves exterior decks/porches and porch furniture, pool areas, the cabana, grills, and outside showers untouched.

We hear complaints from tenants about sand on decks, food remnants on the grill, and used soap/shampoo left in the outside shower.

Rental property owners should talk with their cleaning service to add on these additional services.

  • Out of the Office- Labor Day

For the first time ever, I will be away over Labor Day weekend.

Ironically, we are traveling to another coastal beach town; so will see how their holiday weekend compares!

Back in the office Friday, September 6th.

    Enjoy the beach 😎

P.S.  Hurricane Dorian decided I should hurry back to NJ!  Back in the office as of today- Tuesday 9/3.

  • Summer Days…

IMG_20190719_091249It’s a bit darker in the morning (not cooler yet- but that will come) and some of the plants in the sand dunes are changing color.

We will know it’s officially the end of August  when the swallows arrive and line the electrical wires on the streets by the high dunes!

In the meantime, hurry to the beach 😎

  • Nuns’ Beach, Stone Harbor

The Nuns’ Beach “store” is open (111th and Second Avenue), and the Sisters are on hand to talk about their plans for the historic property.

For details, see the article in the Seven Mile Times .

I understand the practical aspect of their decision, yet I am also heartbroken about the change.

The kind Sisters of The Immaculate Heart of Mary and Villa Maria have been the subject of MANY posts over the years:

In the meantime…the stately structure will continue to be one of my favorite views!

  • Searching for Peace

I posted this in August of 2017.  And sadly, the words have been repeated many times over the past 2 years.

It’s hard for me to fathom the level of hate on display in Charlottesville.

My sheltered life on this island is one of the reasons I value the opportunity to travel.

Meeting people around the world verifies that we are all more alike than different.

Kindness transcends languages…and I am grateful for those experiences.

    Peace
