Dune Grass Planting

I’ve written about my personal experience with dune grass planting¬†as a child growing up on the island. ¬†Needless to say, our finished product looked a bit different than the symmetrical rows pictured!

The dune grass planting is the final phase of our recent beach/dune restoration project.

I think our dune grass planting looked “exactly” like these nice even rows.

I remember the weather usually being cold and damp. We lost any motivation to separate the stalks or plant in even rows…especially near the end of our service time. The things we did for a free hot dog at the school!
