  • Sunday Sights

More ice than snow from last night’s storm.  Streets are clear, but walkways and decks will be slippery for my sale showings later this morning.  Will bundle up and shuffle along!

  • Motivation

Well, no snow yet in Avalon or Stone Harbor.

That would have been an improvement over the semi-frozen rain I faced (literally) on my early morning beach walk.

Today’s walk  made possible by: a hooded LL Bean jacket with inside pockets to keep my electronics dry, my new hiking boots, and other not so fashionable attire.

Today’s walk motivated by: my followers here and on Twitter  :)

Have a good weekend.  Will be watching for snow from my office window!

  • Beach Obstacles

When I posted this picture last week on Twitter, I thought the beach equipment was positioned by the Avalon fishing pier as a staging area.

Today, I heard the details.  Turns out, in order to redistribute the sand from the south end of the island to the north end, the large trucks faced a major height obstacle: the fishing pier.

The contractor solved the problem by digging out a section between the pilings, allowing the dump trucks to clear the bottom of the pier.  And because the ocean naturally washes sand back in the hole, the area has to be maintained daily during the beach restoration process.

There are sections of beach closed during this project.  However, you can safely observe from a nearby beach path.  And who doesn’t enjoy watching an over-sized Tonka truck speeding along the water’s edge?!

  • Wednesday Sun

There was limited sun yesterday- only an hour or so at sunrise.  Glad  I was on the beach to appreciate the views!

Today- bright sunshine.  Looking forward to a busy weekend!

  • Full Moon

This picture was taken last night. A beautiful view from the beach.

Tonight is the actual full moon.  With the moon rise at 5:34pm, and sunset at 5:25pm, it should be an especially colorful sky.

So, BIG plans for tonight.  Dinner at the beach…which means sandwiches from Wawa in our Jeep 😉

  • Sunny Monday

Chilly start for our Monday- yet temperatures are already close to 50 degrees.

Noticing the earlier sunrises (have to really hurry out the door for my beach walk) and day light after work.  It makes such a difference…feels like spring is almost here.

  • Weather

For a TRUE weather forecast at the beach, start with the temperature on the outside thermometer.  Subtract 10 degrees if there is a sustained northwest wind.  Add 5 back if there is sunshine and the dunes are blocking the wind.  Subtract 20 degrees if the wind is off the ocean- the dampness factor!

I often feel “over dressed” as I leave the house…then grateful for the extra layers once I am on the beach.

Last tip- if you walk fast and stay distracted by the views…you will feel warm(ish) even on the worst day 🙂

  • My View

It never gets old.  As I walk down my block toward the beach, I am excited to see the sky and the sun over the ocean.  It really does look different to me each day…and I’m grateful for an outlet to share “my views”.  Have a great weekend!

  • Spring?

Flowers blooming in our yard 🙂

  • Seashore Real Estate

A crazy busy day today in our office.  Summer tenants are confirming their plans for a week (or more) at the shore.  And prospective buyers are driving down to seriously shop for a vacation home.

The nice weather is providing a jump start on our spring market 🙂
