Sunday Sights

This was my view yesterday morning. Perfect weather for the Easter sunrise service on 30th Street in Avalon.

And THIS was my view later in the day:  a baby seal hanging out on the beach in the south end of Stone Harbor.   He (or she) appeared healthy- just getting some sun and a nap!

The police were on hand to keep onlookers at a safe distance.  The officer mentioned that this is the first seal he has seen all winter (it’s not unusual for seals to make a pit stop on our beach).

See related posts from my other “seal sightings”-

Living/Working at the Shore

This statement will make other sales people cringe:  “Yes, I do take time off from work”.

And, I will even confess to an occasional vacation 🙂

Because I have always lived/worked in a tourist area, working on weekends is a must.  Therefore, I take 2 days off during the week (Wednesday and Friday to be specific).

Yet, we are in a 24/7 world- with the technology to support that lifestyle.  I am likely to be posting a beach or bay picture to Twitter…and then replying to a work e-mail immediately after.

I sincerely believe I can “sell” the island because I actively enjoy the benefits.

See you on the beach!

Easter Week

I expect more company this week and next while walking on the beach.  Currently, the birds and an occasional dolphin don’t seem too disturbed as I sing along with my iPod…will have to tone it down when people return 😉

Building Trends

On almost every block in town, the spring construction rush is underway.

Contractor vehicles are lining the streets with the looming Memorial Day weekend deadline!

We are seeing more renovations than ever before (in some cases requiring the home to be lifted to meet flood elevation codes).  An architect can magically transform a simple 1950s beach house; keeping the old house charm, while adding today’s amenities.

Noticing a variety of trends with new construction:  more natural materials (cedar shake, stone, and brick), two-tone siding (both color and texture), some “southern” architectural influence (Nantucket style continues to be popular, too), covered decks, pools, and elevators.

Sunday Sights

A beautiful, sunny start for our Sunday (ignore those dark clouds over the bay!)  Happy April 🙂

Final Beach Drive

Last night was our final beach drive of the season.  Vehicle permits expire on March 31st.

A stormy spring night- glad to be protected from the rain and wind!

It was also our last night for “ocean front” dining.

Sandwiches from Wawa with an incredible view!

A big Saturday night at the shore 😉

It was getting dark by the time we drove by, but wanted to share an updated picture of the Windrift on 80th Street.

They have crews working everyday in order to complete this major renovation project in time for opening day later this month.

Will post more info when available.

Saturday at the Shore

Picture taken during my early morning walk- the white foam and jetty rocks provide some contrast to the gray skies and ocean. Our early spring warmth has encouraged plenty of natural color off of the beach.  Noticed yesterday that even our Azalea bush is starting to bloom!

Many property owners are in town this weekend, and the restaurants and businesses are opening their doors after a quick winter break.

Power Play Realty is open all weekend, and I am here to help with any questions you have regarding sales or rentals.  609-967-7950  or  ann@anndelaney.com

P.S. Tonight is Earth Hour 2012. Switch off your lights at 8:30pm in support of a more sustainable planet.   http://www.earthhour.org/  Fortunately for me…that’s practically my bedtime 😉

Beach Views

Wednesday’s walk in the wind…

And then later after a quick storm…chasing a rainbow that faded as I walked down to the beach!

By the way, the island looks incredible right now with the beautiful flowering Bradford Pear trees.   I have posted a few pictures on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/AnnDelaneyBeach
