Spring Weather

If you are coming to the beach for President’s weekend, bring several layers.

The sun is out and temperatures are heading in the right direction…but there is a definite “sea breeze”.  The closer you are to the ocean, the more layers you will need!

Worth bundling up for the view.  See you on the beach  😉

Street or Beach?

The wind direction determines the route for my morning walk.

A west or northwest wind?  Definitely on the beach close to the dunes.

Today’s gusty “spring like” south winds created cooler temperatures by the ocean.  A nice push while walking north, but I opted for less resistance training on the return.

The street walk gives me a chance to check out homes- a favorite pass time of course.  But I have to allow extra time to close banging storm doors and rescue wayward trash cans!

Just Because

No news or updates to report…just a peaceful picture of the beach and ocean.

101st Street beach pavilion in Stone Harbor, NJ.

Noticed a few more lights on in the homes around the island this weekend.  Property owners are down to escape the snow and check on things.  Avalon and Stone Harbor will be even more active for President’s weekend.

Valentine’s Weekend

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Chocolates and flowers are great…but a beach house is even better 🙂

Enjoy the weekend and improving weather.

Warmer Weekend

The overnight coating of snow provided a pretty view this morning…and quickly melted away.

The weekend weather looks much better.  Sunny and more moderate temperatures.  Cure your cabin fever with a ride to the shore!

If I can help with rental or sale information, please let me know  ann@anndelaney.com

Thanks!

Coping with Winter

Days like today give us hope for an early spring.

Warm sunshine, and a slight breeze off of the ocean to carry the fresh salt air smell we love.

Hey…winter is not that bad after all 😉

P.S. Tuesday weather: high wind advisory and COLD temperatures.  There goes my optimism!

How Many Homes?

More 2010 US Census Data:

In Avalon, there are 5,434 residential dwelling units.  In 2000, there were 5,281.  The restructuring of the business district allowing residential units above commercial space is a factor with the increase.

The numbers in Stone Harbor show a decrease in dwelling units- 3,247 in 2010, down from 3,428 in 2000.  This reflects the replacement of non-conforming duplex structures (torn down and replaced with single family homes).

How Many Residents?

According to the 2010 US Census data (published this week in The Press of Atlantic City):

There are 1,334 full time residents in Avalon.  That’s down from 2,143 in 2000.

In Stone Harbor, there are 866 full time residents, down from 1,128 in 2000.

Conclusion?  The birds out number people in the winter months…especially when many of our residents escape to warmer climates!
