Humans aren’t the only ones who like to take a nap on the beach!
We stayed a safe distance away, and I used the zoom feature on my phone for a closer look 🙂

As of now, beach access is not limited in Avalon or Stone Harbor.
Ocean City made the tough decision today to close their boardwalk and beach to discourage social gatherings.
My hope is that the residents here continue to behave appropriately. Our daily beach walks provide a much needed mental break!
Much of the vehicle traffic around the island is related to construction. And that’s typical for this time of the year.
Some of the summer homes previously occupied over the weekend are now vacant.  Guessing those owners are heeding the Governor’s request and/or realizing they are better off staying close to their primary health care facilities.
I will continue to keep you posted in the days and weeks ahead…

Thank goodness for technology!
Keeping safe so that we all can enjoy our beach days in the future 🙂
I completely understand the need to escape to a peaceful beach town. That’s why we love living here.
Yet our seasonal atmosphere has always presented challenges when it comes to medical care.
FACTS:
One hospital serves all of Cape May County (Cape May Point to Ocean City and all coastal and inland towns in between). In the peak summer months, urgent care facilities pick up the slack.
When local residents need specialty care, we often have to travel out of the area. It’s common for us to see physicians in Atlantic or Camden County, as well as Philadelphia.
This is not a knock to the Cape May County medical professionals. Our primary doctors are providing the referrals knowing we will receive the appropriate care.
Community leaders and the Governor of New Jersey understand the limitations of the local health care system, and justifiably fear for the health and safety of us all.
Driving around the island, I would compare the occupancy of the homes to a typical Easter weekend.
It’s not packed, yet there are definitely more properties with lights on and cars in the driveway for this time of year.
I’m okay to share space with the second home owners as long we all follow the social distancing rules to stay healthy.
What a difference a few weeks, days, hours make. My head is spinning!
To contrast the scary news, I need to remain grateful for:
Family (including the 3 most charming grandsons ever).
Caring co-workers helping each other so we all remain safe.
A close knit business community.
The opportunity to walk a few blocks to the ocean, breathe in salt air, and shed a few tears.
Stunning NEW single family home available for sale: $2,599,000.
6 bedrooms, 6.5 baths, huge great room on the 2nd level plus a spacious family room overlooking the back patio area and pool.

Beach Walks
I know how fortunate we are to live by the beach.
Every walk offers us the opportunity to take a deep breath, appreciate Mother Nature, and collect sea glass!
Glad to share our walks “virtually” for a few weeks until it’s safe for all of us to be together on the sand…
