Vacation versus Travel

Both are near and dear to my heart- yet completely different experiences.

Travel: venturing to a unique destination with the purpose of seeing the sights.  It can be “work”- studying guide books in advance, learning a few keys words of the language, and following an itinerary.  Travel is both thrilling and exhausting!

Vacation: often it means returning to a favorite location.  It’s easy – you know the best shops and restaurants.  There may be a routine, but it probably involves a bike ride after breakfast.  No real schedule- except for dinner reservations or a tee time.

For so many families, our island is the ideal “vacation”.   I understand 🙂
