Nice long beach walk this morning. Now in work and watching the activity across the street at Avalon Coffee. Â The outside chairs are well located to catch the morning sun!
Enjoy the weekend.

We all know the “Cooler by a Mile” slogan applies in the spring…right?  And a 70 degree weather forecast in April is likely for WEST of island bridges?
For my early morning walks, I often see visitors in shorts and tee shirts…while I’m wearing a fleece jacket and a hat!
We will appreciate the sea breeze soon enough. Â In the meantime, bring a few extra layers for your time at the beach 🙂
For $21 per person, our island beaches are groomed daily, trash and recycling is picked up, and well trained lifeguards keep us safe. Plus, we are welcome to enjoy Avalon and Stone Harbor beaches with the same tag. A bargain.
The majority of my beach time is during non-tag hours: early morning and evening walks. Â And, as residents, we pay our fair share in property taxes. Â Yet, I understand the purpose of the revenue, and purchase a handful of tags each season for family and guests.
Excited to pin these on my beach bag for summer 2014!
Walk the beach…admire the Stone Harbor Garden Club’s mini-park (122nd and Second Avenue)…and explore the paths down at the Point (the snowy owl is rumored to still be in residence).
There are 56 properties sale pending in Avalon and Stone Harbor, NJ; with a median list price of $999,000.  Most will settle before Memorial Day weekend!
During the past 30 days, 20 properties have sold (final settlement); with a median selling price of $1,275,000.  The new owners are now gearing up for summer 2014.
AND, there is still time. Â If you are interested in a shore purchase, please let me know.

Spring = daffodils, and “Open” signs on seasonal businesses.
For example: Hoy’s 5 & 10, The Windrift, Jay’s on Third, Marabella’s, Avalon Coffee, and The Concord- all joining the year round establishments and gearing up for a busy summer. Â P.S. the Beach Tag booths (Avalon 30th Street; Stone Harbor 95th Street) now open weekends, too!
Many more will be opening as of Easter week, then Mother’s Day weekend, and of course Memorial Day weekend.
Glad to see activity around town again!

It’s called a “Disney Vacation”…but oh so different than the vacations I help tenants plan here on the island.
Compare:
1) A beach chair and a good book; versus sturdy sneakers and guidebook/ maps.
2) Relaxed schedule and meals on the deck; versus an itinerary with Fast Pass and character meal reservations.
3) Eating sandwiches under the umbrella at the beach; versus the Hoop De Do Review (if you have gone…you will understand!)
We stayed at the Contemporary – which my husband described as “The Borgata for children”. Â Sensory overload!
BUT, boy did we have fun 🙂
By the way, for this extended family trip, we used an Authorized Disney Travel Planner- Gina Vercesi. Gina and her family vacation each summer in Stone Harbor, and we connected through Twitter. Â Her web site:Â inthemousehouse.com
Dunes Benefit From Ocean Breeze
The sea breeze (sounds nicer than cold, sustained wind off of the ocean) brings the gift of sand to our beaches and dunes.
So, in support of this natural occurrence…I will continue to bundle up for my beach walks!
