It’s a bit darker in the morning (not cooler yet- but that will come) and some of the plants in the sand dunes are changing color.
We will know it’s officially the end of August  when the swallows arrive and line the electrical wires on the streets by the high dunes!
In the meantime, hurry to the beach 😎
Update: Â Although the collection of New Jersey sales tax no longer applies for private owner rentals, property owners using third party sites such as Home Away, VRBO, and Airbnb are still responsible for the tax.
Properties rented through licensed real estate agencies continue to be exempt from the law (no tax due).

The Nuns’ Beach “store” is open (111th and Second Avenue), and the Sisters are on hand to talk about their plans for the historic property.

I understand the practical aspect of their decision, yet I am also heartbroken about the change.

I posted this in August of 2017. Â And sadly, the words have been repeated many times over the past 2 years.
It’s hard for me to fathom the level of hate on display in Charlottesville.
My sheltered life on this island is one of the reasons I value the opportunity to travel.
Meeting people around the world verifies that we are all more alike than different.
Kindness transcends languages…and I am grateful for those experiences.

The “put everything away” rule does not apply at all households 😉
We are now 6 to 8 weekly tenants into the summer rental season (depending on the owner start date) and the properties are beginning to feel their “age”.
Extra attention is likely needed on the ceiling fans, Â air-conditioning return vents, and outdoor living spaces. Â The weeds in the landscaping and/or stones may be taking over the yard. Â There might be multiple empty containers of shampoo and pieces of used soap in the outside shower. The drip pan under the grill probably needs to be emptied.
It’s always worthwhile for owners to be on hand for the occasional change -over for these reasons.

Out of the Office- Labor Day
For the first time ever, I will be away over Labor Day weekend.
Ironically, we are traveling to another coastal beach town; so will see how their holiday weekend compares!
