A new law in the State of New Jersey charges applicable sales and use tax on short term rentals booked through “transient marketplaces” such as AirBnB, HomeAway, VRBO, and FlipKey.
Vacation rentals arranged through a real estate broker’s office are purposely excluded, and the new tax will not apply.
