Brought to you by the flags over Hoy’s 5 & 10 in Avalon.
The blooming trees along Dune Drive partially obstruct the view from my office window.
But, it’s still obvious that today is: Â sunny and windy 🙂

Late yesterday, I quickly changed after work for a walk along the beach.
As I enjoyed the warm sun and ocean views, a thought occurred to me: Â “Who else gets to do this after work?”
Grateful for our unique life!
It’s only Thursday, and already a noticeable difference with activity around town.
People are riding their bikes, and walking the beach (many dressed for the 70 degree temps inland instead of the cooler island air!)
Deck furniture is out and lights are on in more neighboring homes.
Looking forward to a busy weekend!
As an avid traveler, the attacks in Brussels (and elsewhere) break my heart.
I will never understand the hatred that consumes those carrying out terroristic attacks.
The innocent people killed and injured are just like us: moms, dads, business people, tourists, students…all going about their day.
For me, traveling has reinforced the similarities rather than the differences. Â We are connected by our life experience. And people are generally kind and good.
Wishing for peace…
More sea foam than snow on the beach this morning. Â Mother Nature spring cleaning the ocean and sand!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Â
On my father’s side: my grandmother was born in County Clare in the Republic of Ireland, and my grandfather grew up near Ballymena and the Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland. A real mixed marriage!
They met and married in Philadelphia, and vacationed in Stone Harbor each summer while raising 6 children (pictured in front of their rental cottage).  In the 1950s, my grandparents built a year round home in Avalon. A family business brought the sons and daughters (some with spouses and young children) from Philadelphia to Avalon shortly thereafter.
After visiting the beautiful windswept coast of Northern Ireland, I can totally understand my grandfather’s love of the shore.
Sand in our shoes… and salt air in our lungs 😉
Sláinte!
Pictures from our 2008 trip to Northern Ireland.
Interesting mix of single family homes available for sale on the bay and ocean.

Thank you for your interest!
Plumbers are turning on the water for property owners, business owners are on site preparing for opening day, and I just ordered my beach tags. Â It MUST be spring 🙂
Stone Harbor- drainage pipes
The Borough of Stone Harbor continues to work on street drainage (from the storm drains), and removal of the unsightly pipes on the beach.
