No major news to report…just wanted to share a nice photo taken last night.
What started as a walk after dinner for exercise, ended with a pit stop at Springer’s. Oh well. Guess we can call it even 🙂

Early birds staking their spot on the beach this morning.Â
Clear blue skies, and a comfortable north breeze-Â should be an ideal beach day.
Another “BYOF” (bring your own fan) day at work while we wait for a part to arrive for the air conditioner. In the meantime, wilted real estate agents are doing their best to help customers 😉
Like most seashore towns, Avalon and Stone Harbor have restrictions for dogs on the beach.
In Avalon, leashed dogs are permitted on the the beach only in the off season-Â between September 30th and March 1st.
Stone Harbor allows leashed dogs on the beach between 7pm and sunset from June 1st through September 30th; and this year, installed doggie clean up bag dispensers at some beach paths.Â
Now for my rant: my early morning walks on the beach technically should be “dog free”.  I am not a dog owner, but I understand the appeal of taking a dog for a run on the beach, or a swim in the ocean.  And dog owners may genuinely feel they can control their pet, and therefore, remove the leash.
Unfortunately, when a dog is charging at me, I see aggression. I don’t believe “he is just saying hello”, or “she won’t hurt you”.  I have even tried Dog Whisperer techniques- avoid eye contact, walk farther away, make the chhhhttt noise…without success. My fear may not seem rational to the dog owner, but it’s based on prior experiences with other “friendly” dogs.
So I will appeal to my readers. If you own a beach dog, please follow the local leash laws. It will make for happier blog posts 😉
A cumbersome structure made of heavy, painted white lumber.
Designed for practical purposes…certainly, not for comfort.
And yet at 5pm, when the stands are moved back to the soft sand, kids (young and old) gather for their chance to sit on the  seat of honor.
Do you know someone looking for a shore vacation rental this summer?  We have available weeks in a variety of properties- bay to beach.
For example, starting this Saturday, we have a newer 5 bedroom, 4 bath townhouse on 34th Street in Avalon for $2950;Â as well as a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath rancher on 16th Street available for $1800.
For more details, search rentals on our web site: http://www.powerplayrealty.com/rentals  or e-mail me with a specific request ann@anndelaney.comÂ
Thanks!
Our office was closed yesterday, so I felt the pressure to REALLY enjoy my bonus day off.
Long walk on the beach in the morning- check; kayaking at high tide followed by a quick swim in the bay- check; a few hours of reading under an umbrella at the beach- check; dinner in town, and then a walk to the fireworks- check. Rough day 😉
Large crowds all weekend at the many family events…a successful 4th of July holiday at the shore!
One of our tenants compared driving around town today to playing a video game…at the master’s level!
People, bikes, and beach carts everywhere.Â
The Islandman/ Islandkids Triathlon took place this morning- over 600 participants in this popular, annual event. The Power Play Realty agents worked along with the large team of volunteers (including Borough workers, summer residents, and visitors).Â
Fireworks tomorrow night in Avalon (30th Street); and Monday night in Stone Harbor (80th Street). Enjoy the weekend!
We expect a steady flow of visitors and owners onto the island starting tonight, and throughout the holiday weekend.
Best advice? Park your car and opt for another mode of transportation.Â
Unfortunately for me, kayaking to work is not realistic 😉
Nice feature piece in the July/August edition of Coastal Living Magazine about the Jersey shore- specifically Cape May, Avalon, and Ocean City.
One critique of the Avalon section- not sure why the author would plug a hot dog stand on the beach at 59th Street in Sea Isle City when writing about the beaches in Avalon? Just don’t see the Avalon visitors crossing the bridge for a lunch time snack 😉
Otherwise, fun to see our area receive positive press. We all know that the New Jersey reality shows are anything but real…glad Coastal Living took the time to share that with the outside world, too.
P.S. A promotional video by the Avalon business community recently posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg4PYzBBdkg    You will be singing the catchy tune all day 😉
