Busy, busy…

afterrain Family still in town, and the schedule is busy!

The ocean temperature is very warm for this time of year…even “Nan” is willing to go in!

boardwalk

Last night, we made the annual visit to the Wildwood boardwalk.  Once a year is enough for me… it’s a relief to cross back over the bridge to our more low key island  🙂

The boardwalk was packed- a good sign for tourism at the Jersey Shore.

Just Because…

beachjune

A sunny beach day- an abstract concept for most of June!

The ocean is warmish.  I prefer it warmer-ish, but the kids seem happy.

Enjoy the weekend.

Islandman Triathlon- 7/5

Tim and Midge Kerr are once again hosting the Avalon Islandman Triathlon on Sunday, July 5th.  This is a sanctioned, closed course event and volunteers are needed to prevent vehicles and/or pedestrians from passing through First Avenue and Avalon Avenue during the bike race.

The riders make 3 passes on First Avenue and Avalon Avenue- and coverage is needed on all blocks from 28th Street north to 8th Street.  The kid’s race starts at 9:30am- with the bike portion on Avalon Avenue only.
This will be a commitment of 2.5 hours- starting at 7:15am.    T-shirts for the volunteers will be available in advance of the race.  Additional instructions will also be provided .
The triathlon is an exciting event for the community- with proceeds donated to local charities/organizations.  For more information about the race:

If you are able to help, please let me know your street preference and T-shirt size.
Thanks…see you at the race!

Road Trip: Stone Harbor to LBI

There’s a special seashore wedding this week- ceremony in Beach Haven (you know…North Jersey :) and reception at the Stone Harbor Golf Club.   The wedding bus (aka “the party bus” per the brother in law in charge of refreshments) will drive family and friends back and forth.

Hoping for sunshine and minimum traffic along the Parkway!

That’s better…

rainbowA rainbow behind the clouds at sunrise – this was my view as I ate breakfast on the deck…

And this was my view as I walked along the beach.   It’s overcast now, but much better than rain!

Weather or Not

People on vacation are determined to make the best of it…even though it’s been raining since, what March?

puddles

Yesterday looked hopeful, then heavy rain moved  in.  A break later in the day, then a torrential downpour.  A beautiful double rainbow and deep puddles to entertain the kids rounded out the day!

Stay positive…tomorrow’s weather forecast calls for some SUN  🙂

Could that be the sun?

Quick- run to the beach…the sun is out!

Yes, it’s windy, but the sand is soaking wet, so it won’t blow around 🙂

We need this weather to improve SOON-  there’s an important wedding next week  :-)  and family members are in town to celebrate.

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

trafficWe need to get these people out of their cars and on to the beach!

What a week- so challenging for families on vacation with young children.

It has to get better eventually…right?

Our son and his family arrive tomorrow night and expect to be on the beach 1st thing Saturday morning!

September Day

juneskyToday’s cool north wind and stormy ocean reminds me of a September day.

Our visitors will have to be creative to block the wind on the beach.

The retail shops LOVE this type of weather-  the downtown is definitely busy.

Summer officially begins on Sunday…confirmed by the number of check-in’s scheduled for this weekend – including members of my own family!  Can’t wait!
