Hello Sun

Mild temperatures, less wind, and SUNSHINE.

The weekend storm caused some beach erosion.  But, thanks to recent beach fill projects, the damage was not devastating.  The extra sand created a solid buffer for our beaches and dunes.

Shifting Sand

Okay, it’s official…I miss the sun!  This Nor’easter is not only inconvenient (canceling Columbus Day weekend events) , it’s also causing sand shifting along our beach front.  I posted pictures yesterday, and again this morning on Twitter (see link on right hand side of the page).

I was up early, and able to walk before the rain.  The wind was blowing me, and the sand down the beach.  Stone Harbor Point will likely extend a few more feet into the inlet  after the weekend!

October Summer, continued

Talked  with several summer neighbors yesterday. We are all grateful for this amazing stretch of weather, and “working hard” to take advantage…knowing that cold temperatures will eventually arrive.

Every time I rinse off my beach chair or kayak, I wonder if it’s the last use for 2013?  And then I hurry out again the next day (often bright and early before work) to fit in one more activity!

Yesterday’s adventures included a paddle around Stone Harbor Point (yes, that’s North Wildwood across the inlet).  The ocean was calm…and warm!

October Summer

Taking advantage of this amazing weather.

On my day off yesterday, I kayaked in the bay, took a walk, and spent some quality time in my beach chair 😉   This morning, I kayaked in the ocean before work.

Oh…the burdens of living at the shore!

Sand Sculpture

Without tractor grooming…or foot traffic…the wind has the freedom to make patterns in the sand.
