Left the soggy seashore Saturday night in time for a snow storm in Denver.
Even with the snow, the lack of humidity is such a contrast to our area.

Back in the moist air this morning. The beach fill equipment is in place (again) in Stone Harbor- perfect timing after the coastal storm!

19th Street looking south.
Back to work-  the construction crews were on site at 18th Street and the beach! Picture taken from the 19th Street beach path.
12th Street looking south. The rock wall is fully exposed, but the dune system behind it is intact.
12th Street looking north toward the inlet and jetty.
I was anxious to see the condition of the beach this morning. The beach path at 120th Street in Stone Harbor is completely filled in with sand.
Major damage to the dunes at 111th Street (looking north from “Nun’s Beach”). The walkway used to be on top of a large dune. Now the ocean is running underneath. Sad…
Past high tide, but it will take some time for the water to recede in the low lying areas of the island. Borough workers in both towns are busy cleaning up the debris left behind.
The walkway to the beach from the 101st Street pavilion was damaged.Â
Low tide at 111th Street- a mean looking ocean!Â
What? No delivery tonight? The guys at Nemo’s answered the phone and took our order. That was the easy part.
What’s a few feet of cold, salt water when you need dinner!
Good for a few laughs…and great pizza!
No, it’s not Monster Truck week in Stone Harbor.
I didn’t feel well this morning. With the media coverage of the flu, we are all conscious of staying home if we are sick.
Frost on the cars and grass this morning. But typical of this time of year, it was much warmer on the beach.
The warm sun reflecting off of the ocean is the reward for bundling up for a walk on the beach. A beautiful November weekend at the shore!
Stone Harbor picture
Picture taken this morning just before high tide from the 96th Street beach looking toward the Sanderling Condominium building. Prior to the recent storms, I could see the 2nd and 3rd floor units . Now, only the top of the building is visible from the water’s edge.
The sand level is lower, but thankfully, there is still some beach and the dunes are in place.
The dredging/beach fill process started today- will work their way north from 111th Street to 98th Street during the next 2 weeks.
